More About Me

My study and working life achievements so far range from receiving

the Adult Achiever of The Year Award from Bournemouth and Poole College

to ending my employed career at director level,  having worked my way up

through the ranks to manager, to managing managers. I loved it for its variety as no day was ever same. I enjoyed both the physical and mental draw it required.

We were in the Top 10 Sunday Times Best Companies to Work for in 2009 and 2010.

We achieved this by focusing our attention on creating the very best

environment for our colleagues to work in. My part in this was delivering Google style office spaces, gourmet pub food and an in-house Starbucks styled café.

I resigned from this role to look after my disabled son who had become unsettled in his specialised care home. It was an easy decision, although I really missed the adrenaline rush. The change from working in a fast paced environment to being back at home caring for someone full-time took some adjustment.

I began focusing on understanding more about mental health, reading about  practical neuroscience and learning how we can develop well-being.  I have recently completed the recognised courses to back up my learning . These include  life coaching, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), focused attention and hypnotherapy (active guided meditation/altered states of consciousness).

I'm lucky to live a couple of miles from the beach and taking long walks here are something I treasure. The sound of the waves coming a shore and the sight of the sea brings me calm and perspective.

I love spending time in the garden and am continually trying to grow plants I love. However, living by the sea can have its downfalls. The soil in my garden is extremely poor so I'm slowly working it out. It's a learning curve.

We have an extremely large silly dog called Sergey. He is 6 now but some how he still behaves like a ridiculously huge puppy who has no actual idea how big he is. When we were choosing a dog at the rescue centre, they told us he was a terrier, we believed them and Sergey still does! If anyone out there knows of another 54 kilo terrier please do let me know!
